During her time working as a Physiotherapist, she noticed that there were a certain number of clients who were not responding to Physiotherapy techniques and approaches. As a result, she went on a search to find some answers. This led her to discover the:-
Bowen Technique
This is a very gentle and non-invasive technique in which the Therapist performs a series of gentle moves (a rolling action over tendons or muscles) over the body. These moves access the healing ability that each and every one of us has inside our bodies. Treating the body holistically unblocks whatever is stopping the body from healing, thereby embracing not just the presenting symptoms, but also the physical, chemical, emotional and mental aspects of each person receiving the treatment.
There are frequent important pauses between these moves, which give the body time to benefit from each set.
By combining moves, the practitioner is able to address the body as a whole and target a specific problem.
The Bowen Technique has been shown to help people to recover from many conditions including accidents, sports injuries, chronic pain, e.g. coccyx & TMJ pain, and reduces rehabilitation time.
It is also recognised to help conditions such as Parkinsons Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and following strokes.
Many clients find that the Bowen Technique makes a positive health impact by providing more energy and an overall sense of well-being. Hence many people with good health enjoy regular treatments to maintain optimal body balance.
Where Has It Come From
Thomas A. Bowen, (1903-1982), developed this technique in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. After serving in World War II, Bowen became interested in ways of alleviating human suffering. He began to notice that when he made certain moves on the body, it had particular effects. Over a period of several years, he developed the system as it used today.
Often, when we have a negative emotional response to a situation, a person or an experience, we as human beings push these emotions down inside. This can produce a chemical change in our cells, weakening them and making them more susceptible to damage from trauma or toxins.
Superficially, the body may be fit and well but if there is an imbalance in the body, it will keep re-injuring.
Mind Body Bowen
In her practise, Debbie also uses the Bowen moves to access memories stored at an unconscious level.
By freeing these memories, this enables your body to heal at a deeper level, allowing you to achieve your full physical and emotional potential in life.
